HISTORY


The International Women’s Brass Conference exists to provide opportunities that will educate, develop, support and inspire all women brass musicians who desire to pursue professional careers in music.

The IWBC was founded by Susan Slaughter in 1990 in response to results from a survey issued to over fourteen hundred women brass players. The IWBC exists to provide opportunities that will educate, support, develop, and inspire all women brass players who wish to pursue professional careers in music. Membership is open to all women and men who would like to support this effort.

Publications available through the IWBC include Women Brass Musicians, Past and Present compiled by the Pioneers Committee and the IWBC Directory of Women Brass Perfomers and Teachers.
